Ravi Kishan Shukla, popularly known as Ravi Kishan, is an Indian film actor, television personality, and politician. He was born on July 17, 1971, in Kerakat, Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. Kishan has appeared in over 600 films in Bollywood, Bhojpuri, Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada languages. He is also known for his roles in television shows, including Bigg Boss, and for his successful career as a member of parliament.

                     


Early Life and Struggle:

Ravi Kishan was born into a family of farmers in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh. His father, Pt. Shyama Narayan Shukla, was a priest, and his mother, Jadavati Devi, was a housewife. Kishan was interested in acting from a young age and moved to Mumbai to pursue his dream of becoming an actor.

Kishan's journey to become a successful actor was not easy. He faced many rejections and struggled to make ends meet in the big city. In an interview, he shared that he used to sleep on the railway platform and sometimes even went without food for days. However, Kishan was determined to succeed and continued to audition for roles.


Name Change:

During his early days in Mumbai, Kishan realized that his name, Ravi Shukla, was not very marketable in the film industry. He was advised to change his name to something catchier and easier to remember. Kishan took this advice and changed his name to Ravi Kishan.


Acting Career:

After changing his name, Ravi Kishan started to get more auditions and landed his first role in the film Pitambar (1992). He then went on to appear in several films, including Tere Naam, Raavan, Agent Vinod, and Raajneeti. Kishan is best known for his work in Bhojpuri cinema, where he has appeared in many successful films such as Devra Bada Satawela, and Panditji Batai Na Biyah Kab Hoi.

In addition to his acting career, Kishan has also appeared in several television shows, including Bigg Boss, where he was a contestant in season 1, and as a host of the Bhojpuri version of Kaun Banega Crorepati.


Political Career:

In 2014, Ravi Kishan joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and contested the Lok Sabha elections from Jaunpur constituency in Uttar Pradesh. He won the election and became a Member of Parliament. Kishan was re-elected in 2019 from Gorakhpur constituency, defeating his nearest rival by a margin of over 3 lakh votes.


Personal Life:

Ravi Kishan is married to Preeti Kishan and has four children. He is a teetotaler and has been open about his struggles with addiction in the past. Kishan has also been associated with various charitable causes and social initiatives, including education and healthcare for underprivileged children.


His conribution to Bhojpuri:

As a member of parliament, he has spoken on various issues such as agriculture, education, and healthcare in the parliament using his language expertise to make his point.
